The History Of Establishment MSPRS
As the number of plastic surgeons grow in Malaysia, there was a need for an open forum to support the exchange of professional knowledge, opinions, and expertise. Ideally, the platform would also serve as a professional body representing the collective interests of the practitioners of plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.
Recognising those needs, on March 23, 2009, the Hospital Kuala Lumpur – Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (HKL-PRS) Educational Club was established as a temporary committee under the direction of Datuk Dr. Ahmad Ridzwan Arshad, who was the head of the respective department at that time. On January 12, 2010, the club was officially registered with the Registrar of Societies of Malaysia. Subsequently, a membership drive was launched throughout the country to assemble like-minded individuals.
On February 19, 2011, the second Annual General Meeting took place, with a larger membership and several constitutional changes to accommodate the Club’s ever-expanding purpose. As per the proposal presented at the third Annual General Meeting on March 3, 2012, the Club adopted the name Malaysian Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (MSPRS) in lieu of its previous name.
